Currency

If taking time
or stealing a moment away
is a luxury
interest grows only with age
invested in decadence
a mass
of intangible
wealth...

There is always more work
to be done,
and not being done
is a better way-
let us never finish
before we have spent
our Time
as if it were all we had
with Us.

Financial Sense Ability

Accountants and Universities
all too often
                     forget
that they provide a service

apart
         from guarding the gold
the service would be of no use
had not the need to know

arose
          and smelled like a rat.

Cold and hard like cash

Ha! What money? Don’t I look hungry-
Enough, with only skin and bones
The mother poet is simply a conduit
For care.( a.k.a.ATM), logistically
Someone had to buy the groceries
and gasoline.
Of course, electricity must be paid and the internet
is always on, even with power bars,
despite attempts to unplug everything.
No money was any-
more than a thing to get another
thing or things.

Finally, detoxified and rehabilitated,
I breathe freely,
but it costs me my life.
There is no green growth in the wallet.
And every morning, there is money to be put in boxes,
sorted, split, and aggregated from valid sources.

So it was not me eating money or homework, or flesh, or words,
it was paper, fiber, DNA, dinero
And dang it-I remember having it
and not needing it.

Currency calculator

I worry when we need milk
and wonder where the daily bread will come from.

Too many survive famine.

Child support is over a week late.
The Department holds the money it collects from others,
on behalf of others, extra days,
in an interest-bearing account.
The Department makes more money
that way, it adds up in
arrears and years that cannot be spent
growing and splitting heirs.

The college decisions are coming in.
We all wonder where this will take us.
We need to pick a meal plan. She will not starve,
she hopes-
they better have good coffee.

While driving to take the truck in for an unknown repair,
the sky held up its coolest winter blue,
the air was crisp like minted dollars,
and I could not take my eyes off the sky
while riding home.

It said everything.

And utterly cloudless,
when I spy a shuttlecock of white, like a flash, in contrast to the blues,
I watched this meteoric figure against the broad daylight
falling, fading, falling,
and finally, disappearing into the sky,
it all sunk in.

Like small talk, no granular attention is paid.
Burned up. I am broke anyway.
Just like today. This week, I am weaker
than gravity.

Lighter with empty pockets and incinerating
into nothing,
but solid air pumping in and out of the chest
like fire and ice,
all the elements are there and it is enough
for a poem.

Minute Beans

Your time is money.
This account-Your Life, Net Worth
spent counting minutes

Until it never
earned any interest-ing
ways to get rich quick.

Capitalism
liquid mold, carbon copies
mint makers go broke

count on your changes
to add value. Return Re-
ceipt not required.

The currency of pretty

How could you be so Beautiful
and not show anyone?

Why do you squander this Gift
doing nothing powerful
with it-

You don’t have enough to spend
frivolously, you said.
Our investments differ dramatically.
Meanwhile, I have been saving up
All my paper money
for disgraced tears
the old fashioned way.

Only trying to help you get
A head of yourself.

Your advice is not the flotation
device
I need to keep a heads up.
I think I am too heavy, too deep
to let it Be. Do not worry about me.
I would happily dissolve back into the sea
as in, dis-
appear
coming back again and again in tide,
leaving crumby trails of gold.

This was you being ugly,
or just one of many duplicates.
Monotony blinds anyone who sees just
silhouettes and small talk, grains as significant-

Personal preferences aside, you should see
Yourself in this light.

Instead we blow off the complimentary
and make glass castles or ballerinas,
all so fragile where thinnest.
If only we could trade
places
matter and Purpose
melt in twisted hands,

beauty was nothing new.

gains & drains & when it rains

If I had a grand
I'd call back that
paralegal named Gabriel
and retain his professional services
and following his advice, proceed to
take out my hammer and
nail that lying selfish bastard to the wall.

He knows
most of the gist already.
It wouldn't take long to catch that Gabriel
up to date
nothing has changed.
He knew this would happen.

I have waited impatiently.
I am working on this.
I want justice.
I want to feel it is fair for us two,
minus ethos and numerology.

Wrong or right
redemption is truant. AWOL.
-cognito err go some-
The Karma
must have broken down
in the median
hazards on, hood up,
awaiting a ride on my back,
again. Help. A tow.
I am Lost en route.

And although not generally a vindictive
Entity, myself,
I'd really like to make
it hurt, permanently.
I'd prefer to take more
than that idiot has
left from his gambols and gains,
that would be a nice Rebate.

At least a little freedom, breathing room
sometime somewhere soon...
I know space and air is expensive.
There is no room of my own,
I can only afford to share.

He is taking too much
for himself,
except accepting
any responsibility what-so-never.
It could be just me, broken
without any money.

If I had a grand
I should want to take that Stanford class
instead of making such poor investments
with my free time.
Yet we both know
grand ideas, worthless pennies,
are all I have thought
left.

In questionable fashion

Who told you how to live?
Let me begin by acknowledging our equal need for oxygen,
and then amend,
nitrogen is what we primarily take in,
albeit we all agree to say
it is only Oh-two that is our necessity-
in stability and in security.

Really?
Is this all you need? The rest must be greed...
Upon a star watch all wishes come true.
Did you get the images from the made for reality tv
program, project runaway
fed by pity luck, out of stock-on back-order-by-
perceptive-demand-controls-levers
and catapults.

How can you just stand by, casually
wanting the same not enough to go around?
You're losing it,  ground you never gained, receding
by the grains of sand you planned your foundations
upon return to all unfull-filled wishes and keep
coming back to what looks better but never is
Yours Truly
Wanted.

Silly sap, you don't need all that crap
to distract your focus, diffuse your feelings,
numb your neurons, echo those morons
and blend in to grey-scale wet ware
you won't want to wear
fashionably
later-or For Ever
enough stuff
holds you back
by gross weight.

It seems all other dreams
end well...but how would you know...
sleeping like they do
makes it better for you
by breath or in death,
                gasping for argon
until it is all gone.

Winning the Lottery

Wealth is having more than you need.
I, too, am guilty of this.
I must confess,
I have laundered some change,
this week.
The same exact six cents
I keep finding in different denim jeans.
And when I think about it,
having an extra six
sense-may not be worth anything
solid, except an extra thought-
that buys a cents of monetary health.

Deep breathing lessons

In a fit of (out)rage-
directed at self-
via repeat rejections
and the subsequent dejection
received-
I could only see (in the) red.
The message was loud and clear, I fear
they all might be right and
I almost entertained
a harebrained
nasty notion, deranged desperate thought
that I could spend my days in drudgery
earning regular poor money
working for someone else’s benefit(s)-
Then I remembered
that doesn’t work-for me
though it would make some others
(beyond) happy-it'd be
at my expense, hence,  I’d be in debt,
lacking value,
inherently strangled spiritually.
And after a moment of light
reflection-
I can now breathe
asymptomatically.

Dated 1432

Dated 1432
and here I am
looking...
                       If the artist
                       could only look back
                       too,
me admiring...
Transfixed.
And amongst
a lavish soiree
a veritas bouquet
                       death and life
displayed        and splayed
out-
                       hung crucified-
                       elaborated suffering, of the antiquity.

The lives
in the stills.
The (pro)posed lives
in the pastorals.
The captured chrysalis,
by stroke.
In wealthy company of all this
excessive impression
is-tic motif-
                        the money felt misplaced,
so it said subjectively.

And those people holding place
in the Portraiture room
                        -No Photographs-
needed.
                        the encounter is etched,
                        with abrasive stares-
over time.

On the walls
                        the writing of fates
                        in gilt frames
                        of a frozen time
                        of a minds eye
that was never there
but now,
                       while I am looking back
and there.

And then...

Change is like that strong smell of cut grass or chopped wood that stops you still. Patterns, a symbol can be an illegible sign,  at first...
