housing

Walls of light
Standing planes and panes
Like prisms akimbo to light
Have held me rapt here
With skin in the game

Comfort be confound in coy
Contrasted by temperate untouchables
Hot like colors

Never seen lightning linger long
Enough to picture
Over iron mountains, topped mesas,
Yet you can smell the rain too, can’t you?
Miles away, the ions spin colliding
Into calm air-
Fixed for change.
We were warned,
Senselessly.

Where art thou?

People ask me where I've been and I am mystified.
I mean, I don't know if they mean recently-
or ever-
neither of which is that fascinating-
          which is completely untrue.
Nobody ever asks me this.

I have recently considered how Primo Levi said the glaciers melting
in green varicose veins
          could not be described.
He reminds me of Pluto in nebulous ways,
after all, he said it actually tasted like sky.

I guess we have all tried to touch rainbows,
and I think most of us prefer shiny things,
not semi-transparent or deflecting items such as prisms
     or  iridescence.

Honestly, I am still trapped,
so tell is all I can do.
It takes determination, geometry
to hold on to other crystals like granite,
becoming solidified, and structurally sound for a time
bond even, but really just passing through.

This is how too,
          rivers are reminiscent of veins
                         and the passing of blood,
like what is liquid or solid
               and divides me by you.

The Rainmaker's Prism

There's this thing I'd like to show you
                  -but I found
                                 I am incapable
                                                        without poetry...
Which is exactly where I first discovered this guarded secret,
                                                        symbolical sound all around
I assume the answer is Yes
-but from so far away I can only guess…
See first, we must see
Both
Science and Art so often             stand        so         far          apart.
At opposing ends of each spectrum,
without blending a hue, without refracting a filtered thought,
contrasting, considering, what may or may not be-
but knew with certainty,
both Science and Art were connected by the arms of Man.
And for just a spot, a moment right here in between
agree to see congruently,
both Art and Science know
the Beauty of a rainbow.
You see, Science will easily explain how tears are not
                                                                                       the same as rain,
but only Art can undoubtedly prove
a compelling hypothesis for the Sun to move
from day to night, casting various shades of light
                                                        glowing proudly in-between-
questioning, magnanimously, spreading is possible rays
                                                         for everlasting days…
Now if you just look through here-
and squint your mind’s eye without flinching or fear,
See-Science cannot make Art,
                                                         in symmetrical chaos
by simply building and implementing its material parts
                                                           of mirrors and prisms-
directing the light, the rainmakers plight, the triple refraction effect

reflected back in the miraculous infinite true blue skies.
Aha! Now I can see it clearly in your eyes.
                                             Beauty.
A lens through crystal tears, prismatic rain,
light making rainbows,
gathering its energy scientifically
perfecting the Art of rain.
