A Lee alee

The moan returned, and it always came at precisely the wrong time.
In these conditions, concentration pulls away and tapered focus spreads
its photons in flooding streams of white thought.
The wind knows this and is relentless, always. Careless
to human needs for calm and order, real food and clean water, it blows-
every which away.

The rising whine coming in all corners should have reminded us, nothing
is sealed completely. Same never remains cremated-
change or would be by the same name. Ashes. Should anyone notice.
It is justified, to claim not to hear, to feel no steam rise, to believe
this arrangement is permanent or static. Hope is clean energy.
Electricity is not a friend.

Dear me. It could never end. A break, a breath, and shriek,
its thick harmonic resonance extending its reach in waves.
The breeze dances its heart out down in the valley.
It will twirl itself out haphazardly and we will see
no steps in the routine. This storm was not predicted.
Every light word goes out the window.
The pain sank through.

Sara Nade

Here is that same night bird taking the top of the stage outside the window
Singing light purple notes alone and unashamed of his thin lilting echo
Pitched out and rolling down the quiet village lane over fences
and peeking in windows,
Disturbed
and proud I would be
if I had feathers to wear tomorrow…

There are no reasons or songs the avian knows
by heart, I listen, still interrupted
under the occasional bassos auto rumbling past,
the bird usually waits for the concrete to cool
back down

Before the night bird at the window
hops himself back up his perch to scale,
topping his previous arias and picking at
new notes

The world rises in mourning ovation,
the inevitable death of knights
or a little light disturbance,

I will get used to it.

Rime on the windows

Excuses? A few...
I denied-
I plied,
I tried, I lied
I tried to hide,
I cried,
I sighed and then
tried to clarify
why
I might (not)
write more tonight,
despite the slightly dim light,
(not) quite bright
enough
and (not) the (right) stuff
I could do
instead of (not) facing you...

And I steer clear
when I fear you are near
my space, in my place
if you hear a tear,
while fiction is lurking
late-wait
my dear,
it was just sincerely
me.
Wrestling with
preservation, conservation,
constriction, restriction to never do-
well- do not tell all
that has made me unwell...I wont
and dont.
When I go to melt the frost,
I am lost,
my fingertips won't melt the ice...
why a window if it wont show
the way out? I doubt you know,
since the rime grows on itself,
and swallowed the last word.
