First things Last

Attracted to the outfit at first,
we eat with our eyes first,
we taste and extract flavour
from smell first
Impressions last.

To start, somewhere, set up things outside
and around your space.
In the end, what comes out
all started inside with
No-things.

The words, the scene, an act,
the play, will write itself
when it is right.

When emulation is enrapt with
blending in
costumes and charades
fade to black back in.

Practice makes no promises.
Barefoot, one can learn to feel the heat,
through the sole.
Headstrong and radiant,
the title will fit the work.

A cool breeze hits a sweaty brow

Too busy to look up
tethered with tension
down my leaden limbs
tiny things gathered
and amassed
yet-so easily dissipated, blown away

Here, first, things first-
someone's last chance
blows by
why
ask
any-
more
?

Anti-cedent

It all started here-when-
It was not begun-before
It was said
In the beginning
who said It
when It was
the first
notion before motion
set in-
side-out-
side the difference in
between mover and moved
when It
is found In
and all around
before sound made it
said or heard
It was on the third day
It was idea, a seed sown
the sky glown
in sacred rhyme
the making of
difference In time
then and what
will be
started over
counting It out
to find our place
only to begin
again
at one.

The order of things

Firsts and Lasts don't make
good companions, They don't know
Who goes, First or Last?

After You, I insist

If we conclude
that the cart can pull the horse-
would we arrive
before our name?

Say we saw the shells
showing
the chicken hatched
his plans
first

How many baskets will we need

to not shatter
the image we
reflect into existence
consciously mirroring
before me?

Just One
holding half
of the analogy

pulling the last straw
to see
who goes
first.
